INSTALLING DJANGO-1.4

INSTALLING DJANGO:

The latest version of django available is django-1.4
Before installing django, you need to have python installed on the system since , django is a python based framework.
(Python is already installed on linux and OS-X)

> Verify whether python is installed or not by typing "python" in terminal.
> Set up a database.You may use-Postgresql,mysql,sqlite3.
> Installing Django:
>>first download the tar file from:   Django-1.4.tar.gz
>>then enter the following commands
      tar xzvf Django-1.4.tar.gz
      sudo Django-1.4
      sudo python setup.py install

Checking the version installed run the following commands in python shell
>> Run python shell by entering python in the terminal
>>run the following commands
       >>import django
       >>print django.get_version()

It tells u the version of Django installed.

Installing TCC automation software

Installed the TCC automation software , following the documentation on tcc, found that the following command is not neccessary for the installation process

sudo chmod 755 -R /home/username/TCC

the istallation works even without the command mentioned

Django problem #1

when using Django , we come accross a settings.py , the user needs to make modifications to the file in order to use it.

THE PROBLEM I FACED:

> we are to give path of the template folder to the (TEMPLATE DIER)
i gave the incomplete address i.e.
TEMPLATE DIER('Documents/mysite/templates')

> which gave error

THE SOLUTION:

>give absolute address i.e.

TEMPLATE DIER('home/demon/Documents/mysite/templates')

Accessing a remote server

In order to access a remote server, follow the steps below:

1. Install openssh-server in the system, for it to act as a sever, for that use the following command

sudo apt-get install openssh-sever

2. Open the server terminal and know the ip address of the server system using the following command

ifconfig

3. Open the client terminal and type following:

ssh sever_user_name@server_ip_address

4. then enter server password

5. If all steps are followed properly, you get access to the server terminal.
